CamTESOL 2011 – Call for Papers and Assistance to Attend for Indonesian Presenters

Dear Colleagues in Indonesia.

Greetings from the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The purpose of this message is to encourage you to submit an abstract for the 2011 CamTESOL conference on English Language Teaching to be held in Phnom Penh on 26-27 February 2011.

In 2010, we received 21 abstracts from Indonesia, of which 16 were accepted by the Program Committee and 15 were delivered.  With support from IDP:IELTS Australia, we were able to offer various types of assistance to make it possible for Indonesians to present at the conference.  This coming 2011 conference, IDP:IELTS Australia has offered to continue this financial assistance.

Firstly, Indonesian nationals will be able to register for the conference for the same rate as those coming from Indo-China i.e. USD50.  This is regardless of whether the Indonesians are presenting or just coming as a delegate.

Secondly, full-time Indonesian teachers of English who have a currently valid IELTS Overall Band Score of 7.0 (no Band less than 6.0) will be able to register gratis.

Thirdly, IDP:IELTS Australia will make available up to three grants to support Indonesians whose abstracts are accepted and who are chosen by the Abstract Committee for the relevance of their abstracts to the teaching of English in Southeast Asia.

Abstracts submitted for consideration for this financial assistance will be judged on:

  • Innovative approaches to the unique educational contexts of Southeast Asia
  • Relevancy to ELT internationally
  • Applicability of approaches, methodology and content to countries across the region

Possible topics include providing instruction in educational contexts with limited resources, effectively instructing large classes, and developing innovative approaches to curriculum design.  The CamTESOL Program Committee will assess abstracts for this financial support.  Abstracts submitted for consideration should:

  • Originate from citizens of Indonesia
  • Include no more than two authors per abstract
  • Follow the guidelines set out in the CamTESOL 2011 Call for Papers
  • Be submitted no later than 30 September, 2010

Successful authors will be notified by 30 October, 2010.  Recipients of this IDP:IELTS Australia-funded support will receive:

  • Reimbursement of Cambodian entry visa and departure tax
  • Accommodation expenses during the conference (designated hotel)
  • A contribution of USD200 towards the return airfare from Indonesia to Cambodia
  • Invitation to Conference Welcome Function / “Presenters’ Warm Up”
  • Conference registration fee waiver and invitation to Conference dinner
  • Invitation to ELT Leadership Forum one day prior to the conference

In addition to the financial support, IDP Education will issue a letter of invitation to any Indonesian whose abstract is selected for presentation at the CamTESOL conference.  The purpose of this letter will be to facilitate gaining approvals from relevant authorities to come to Cambodia.  Cambodian visas are obtainable, including to citizens of Indonesia, on arrival at the airport in Phnom Penh.

Deadline for Abstract Submission: 30 September 2010

Notification re. Abstract Selection: 30 October 2010
