Kang GURU Connection Club Network Club Profiles

Maluku - 2008

The Kang GURU Connection Club (KGCC) is a network of active English language clubs in many areas of Indonesia. These Papua KGCCs, and their members, help KGRE. In turn KGRE, with assistance from AusAID, helps them. If you have an English language club then why not apply to join the KGCC network? Membership of this network of language clubs from Kang GURU and AusAID is FREE and FUN.

Be all you can be …, realize your dreams with STA’R English Club! STA’R EC stands for Saint Thomas Aquino Arui Raya English Club. It’s take place in Arui Das Village, 65 kms from Saumlaki, Maluku Tenggara Barat Regency.

Arui Das village in Wer Tamrian Sub district, it has nice sandy beach, old statues, woodcarving, traditional weaving, traditional songs, and dancing and adat ceremonials.

 

STA’R EC is under authorization and coordination between SMP Negeri 2 Wer Tamrian Arui Das and SD Santo Thomas Aquino Arui Das. We have 36 active members in different level and class. We divided our club into 6 groups with continent names like Europe, Australian, Asia, etc.

 

We also have fantastic groups with name ”Teletubies Team”. They are 40 members include local people, teachers, parents and from primary school. We also have 2 members from the villagers that they are really interesting into English. STA’R has 3 main programs are under program Coordinator. There are Student’s zone, teacher’s zone and Mini resources center. Each members of STA’R EC enjoy LRCS from KGRE in the main activities every Monday and Wednesday afternoon.  STA’R carry out many activities such as listening songs and news, master of ceremonies, reading poems and poetry, performing drama, English speech class and traditional dancing.

We also has environment conservation activities once time a month.

 

STA’R EC is the first English club in Maluku Tenggara Barat Regency and has registered in KGCC.  So, we are the first but not the best … but we try to do our best!
