Kang GURU Connection Club Network Club Profiles

The Kang GURU Connection Club (KGCC) is a network of active English language clubs in many areas of Indonesia. These Sumatra and Riau KGCCs, and their members, help KGRE. In turn KGRE, with assistance from AusAID, helps them. If  you have an English language club then why not apply to join the KGCC network? Membership of this network of language clubs from Kang GURU and AusAID is FREE and FUN.

Our Club is located in Medan near USU (Universitas Sumatra Utara). We have 27 active members and most of us are still in college. Chatting Chamber is held every Saturday at 10.00 am at our campus. Our club's motto is ‘Fun, Fresh & Smart’. We have two committees — finance and creative division. We are very interested in using idioms and funky language. We are also concerned with 23 primary students who are talented in English but poor. One thing that is definitely us: Trekking & Chummy.

Of the six North Sumatra English language clubs linked to KGRE, English Lovers is the only club that is located in a remote area, about seven hours drive south of Medan. Our central is at Pon Pes Ahmadul Jariah, Kota Pinang in Labuhan Batu regency.

There are 80 members in the club, who in three days a week, work together and help each other for the purpose of their English. Our activities are designed with fun and in a very relaxed manner. Playing soccer for example, is one of our outdoor activities while discussing the contents of the Kang GURU magazine and Pouch, Friday addresses service, writing CAR and listening to the cassettes contributed by KGRE are our indoor activities.

Our club name is “Al – Muslimin Speaking Club”. The reason is all members are the students of SMP Swasta Al-Muslimin Pandan. Pandan is a small town which is near the wonderful beach. Our club has 47 members. As the guide teacher us Ms. Rhomauli (an English teacher) and Rico Kusnanda as the secretary.

We meet twice a week, Monday and Thursday at 04.15 pm – 05.45 pm.

On Monday, we discuss about structure and on Thursday, we discuss about the other language proficiencies. On this day, we use KGRE magazines. By using your magazines, all members learn English enjoyable. KGRE, we do need you, please send us whatever you think they are necessary to improve our English. Thanks a lot KGRE.
