Australia Day 2006 in Madura

The Australia Day Celebrations begin in Guluk Guluk!

Santri arrive at Stika dressed in the colours they have chosen for the big day representing each of their different pondoks. Margaret Rollings (ISELP Teacher Trainer from Australia) was there to meet them.

The 200 santri each paid Rp.1500 to attend. That money will be put towards other activities run by their English language club. We had lucky door prizes quizzes and good ol’ Aussie tucker like lamingtons and pikelets following the performance. Everything had Aussie content and included 'Waltzing Matilda', 'Gday Gday' and 'Advance Australia Fair' - sung by the group below left in red white and blue.

A Fantastic Day - Australians all let us rejoice - for we are young and free

FANTASTIC!!!
On Thursday, 26 th of February 2006, English teacher of PP An-Nuqayah and AVI celebrate Australia Day. It's very wonderful because Mr. Don came to PP An-Nuqayah and gave some questions or quizzes to the audiences. This activity supported by some English club in PP An-Nuqayah. One of them is Edelweiss Club KGCC #005. Edelweiss entertained two performances. Those are chant and line dancing. This activity presented by English teacher, student of PP An-Nuqayah and student of Al-Amien, they really enjoyed the event and many students got some prizes from Mr. Don, Mr. John and Mrs. Margaret. Many people said to me “We like the Lamington” (a nice cake)

Beautiful Thursday
At 26 January 2006 in An-Nuqayah, there was party of “Australia Day” and I was very happy when I celebrated it with Mr. Don, Mr. John and Mrs. Margaret and It was very fantastic. At the time I and my friends in Edelweiss club had been doing many activities with the other club. Such as chanting, line dancing, singing a song etc. All of the students were enjoyed and while we were doing this party with Al-Amien students.

At the time, Mr. Don, John and Margaret gave us many prizes by answered some questions. But I was very disappointed cause I didn't get a prize. But I was very happy too when East Star Club gave a prize to Edelweiss Club cause our club had been a member of KGCC the number is # 005 and also I was very happy when I got a cake “lamington” because it was the first time I ate the cake. The important, I was very happy.
