Competition Winners: Debate Topics

In the January – March POUCH competition clubs were invited to send debate topics. Thank you to all of the clubs which entered. Some of the entries are actually questions but they’re very good discussion starters. These three clubs will soon receive a thesaurus.

Al-Mubarok English Club (AMEC) KGCC #066

  • Sinetron programs should not show kissing as this is a bad influence on high school students.
  • Study is important but school isn’t.
  • National examinations (UAN) should be stopped.

English Club of Pamekasan Youth KGCC #068

  • Domestic violence is caused by men and women.
  • Is success in life the result of destiny or effort?
  • Do student associations (OSIS) assist or hinder students’ success at school?

DEL English Club (DEC) KGCC #027

  • Play station must be banned as it is a bad influence on students.
  • Parents must not force their children to marry partners chosen by them.
  • English teachers must use English as the language of instruction.

You’ll see some more debate/discussion topics on the KGCC page of the June magazine, and also on the KGRE website Forum. The Forum topic at the moment was suggested by Get Me English Community KGCC #071: Mobile phones should be banned at school. There have been some interesting comments, so join the Forum and add yours.
