Club Jembrana - Bali
This active English Club in Bali is doing well and
here are some of their interesting activities:
The Club’s English Cafetaria is held every Friday and Saturday.
The Cafetaria is run by Club members. Club members work as waiters or
waitress serving their friends. Students are expected to speak English
around the Cafetaria area. In this way it is hoped that the Club can motivate
students to speak English.

English Performances which include quiz contests in their
school, speech contests and by joining storytelling contests in the region
‘Thanks for sending us the ‘POUCH’ and for sending the Kang Guru
magazine. They are very interesting to read. Through this letter we want
to say sorry for being late in sending reports. We were very busy preparing
to join the telling story contest that was held by the Education Department
of Jembrana Regency. We worked so hard for two weeks in selecting the
best students and in preparing them for the contest. As the result of
the competition we must thank God because two of our Club members were
successful, winning the third and and sixth positions.
We agree and are interested with your motto about Good Neighbours
Makes Good Friends. We think there must be a good relation between us
for example between one school to another school, one province to other
province and of course between one country to other country like Indonesia
and Australia’. |

Madiun English
Conversation Party Madiun - East
Java
Members of Madiun English Conversation Party have been working
hard on keeping their Club an active one. Regular activities have been
held for club members - participation in Club meetings, travel programs
and English competitions in the form of quizzes, writing and reading love
letter contests, funny speech contests and others. One of the interesting
things that this Club has been doing is their good relationship with both
RRI Madiun and RKPD Caruban as mentioned in their letter below.
‘On 7th of May, MECP was invited to have a live interactive programme
on RRI Madiun. They asked us again about our activities and about the
Kang Guru Connection Club network. It was really great and now we are
prouder to be the Club member of your English learning Connection Club.
Many listeners called us and most of them were curious to know more about
MECP. There were even lots of questions about things we hardly know such
as ADS and AusAID activities here and also some places in Australia.
On 26th of May, we held an “English Conversation Party” (our monthly
regular meeting). Two important guests from RRI Madiun attended the meeting.
We had a very interesting “English debate”. We sang together and also
played games’.
They are also grateful for the POUCH bulletins as expressed in their
letter.
‘We would like to thank you very much for sending us the POUCH. It’s
great because all of our members are reminded to keep on improving our
English and they feel motivated again. The POUCH helps us a lot. We enjoy
reading it. Our favourite topic to talk about from it is the “cultural
anecdotes” segment. It’s fun to read about funny things that usually happen
because of culture-shock’.
