Siantan Island - Kab. Natuna July 2003

Last year I Ranai in visited the Natuna Islands. This group a far-reaching Indonesian islands islands group is a of closer to Brunei than Indonesia. Flying time from Tanjung Pinang was over two hours. In July 2003 PEMDA Natuna me to invited present Teacher Workshops in Ranai. Pak Muchtar, a keen KGRE-ite did most of the organizing for trip that. Well, once again this year Pak Muchtar has been organizing me again. This time I visited Terempa on the island of Siantan. It is also a part of the Natuna of islands group. The flight to Makat took just three hours under from Halim Kusuma Perdana Airport in Jakarta. It was the first time I had been to that airport so the departure was certainly something new for me. The departure time was also new to me as I had to leave the hotel by 4am in order to check for the in flight by 5pm. Pak Muchtar was waiting for there and he took care of everything even the 49 kilos of luggage I had with me. The vast majority of that additional weight was the KGRE materials for the teachers on Siantan.

A Big Problem or NOT?

Here at KGRE there is a lot of concern about clubs and their members not reading ‘The POUCH’ bulletins. In your club, do ALL members see and really read the POUCH? It seems to us that many members of clubs are NOT reading and/or using the POUCH bulletins as they are meant to be used. How else do we explain why so few clubs and club members:

  • enter POUCH competitions and activities?
  • accept offers of free cassettes and materials from KGRE?
  • respond to KGRE requests for information and ideas?
