Clubs of the Month

Best Forum English Club

Makassar - South Sulawesi

“Recently we held a Sunday Meeting which was attended by the Club members from both senior and junior levels. The meeting took place in the lab and in our learning park. There were several activities that we did. Among others, and the adviser of our Club gave out the KG magazines to all of us and then we started to read and understand it. He assigned us some tasks relating to the AusAID project and particularly he asked us to focus on certain segments like the one of page 12 - Kang Guru Connection Corner in which our photo can be seen. Every Sunday Meeting we are supposed to discuss other segments. Ideas and information are also translated into Indonesia language. We hope to develop our vocabularies through such activities”.

Special Chit Chat Cassette Tape

The Best Forum Club sent KGRE a cassette recording of one of their Chit Chat Shows and we are using it on the radio program in February and March. Great idea guys, thanks! Parts of this recording can be heard in KGRE Show No.3305  broadcast in February, 2002.

Best Forum English Club is one of our most active clubs and there is no shortage of mail from them. Their November December Report consisted of over 7 pages of news, information and suggestions for KGRE plus a great club pin and a 2002 calendar with KGC logo in it. It is quite obvious that the club looks at the material sent to them by KGRE very carefully and that they are determined to interact to the fullest extent with KGRE. The English used in the report is excellent, well set out and informative. Then another 4 pages of photographs. Other clubs may like to contact the Best Forum English Club for ideas and for more news.

The Excellent Club

Jombang - East Java

“How nervous we were before we got the real news of our club. We wondered whether or not our club belonged to the first 30 ones. Time went quickly, and there came the gorgeous Kang Guru magazine dated on August 2001. We were all very happy but a little bit nervous then we turned the page one by one then another, and another.

“Back to the contents”, said one of our friends. We watched the number and title, surprisingly Kang Guru Connection No.12 was clearly appeared. Spontaneously we all said, “There it is”, and a lot of hands tried to open page 12. We read carefully at the list of Kang Guru Connection Members then No.26 - The Excellent Club, Jombang - East Java made us laugh happily.

Since then we started to work hard to bring our plans written in the application form into reality. A few days afterwards the KG Connection Package came to us on 27 August 2001. We opened together and looked at the things inside. Really the things inside given to us supported us very much in working hard for our club and helping the KGRE plans educate Indonesian people through English Radio Broadcast.

We actually tried to send our activities soon after the package came but because of our hard plan i.e. making and designing our T-shirt and hat needed a lot of time, we just can report our activities done from August until mid-October as follows:

  • Sunday Meetings
  • The Excellent Open-Air English activities (see below)
  • Saturday Night Camp
  • Participate in “Baris Kreasi” (Freedom   Celebration)
  • Answer KGRE Language Activity
  • Discuss name for the Bulletin
  • Promote KGRE in our area.
