Fantastic News! - ‘KGRE 2005 Launch’ Competition

Here are the details for you to think about:

  1. Your club is invited to write, develop and produce a 3 - 5 minute information segment for use on radio. This segment must be recorded onto cassette and sent to KGRE before February 28th.
  2. The topic of the segment is ‘KGRE and Our Club’. The segment can include interviews, music, reports, facts and figures, etc.
  3. The segment should be planned and written as a club activity.
  4. Make the language easy to understand - keep it simple!
  5. As many club members as possible should be heard in the segment.
  6. Try to make the sound quality as good as you can but do not worry if the sound is not crystal clear. Voices in the segment should be easy to understand. Don’t speak too fast!
  7. One entry will be chosen as the Grand Winner.
  8. If necessary the segment will be re-recorded in your club location during March using KGRE and IALF equipment. The format or content of the original segment will remain the same.

The Winning Segment will be played at the Offcial Launch of KGRE for 2005 in Jakarta in late April, 2005. The Grand Prize will be a trip for two members of the winning club to Jakarta to represent their club at the Official KGRE 2005 Launch activity.

New KGRE 2005 Contract with AusAID

Kang Guru Radio English is happy to announce AusAID has agreed to continue funding and to support KGRE for the next three years minimum. There is also a good possibility of an extension for a further two years after that. KGRE is looking forward to the next 5 years. Some of the new features include a larger magazine (4 new pages) and in 2006 we will have 4 editions each year. Mid-elementary level students will be looked after by having their own special page in the magazines and their own segments on every radio program. KGRE will be producing a new 2005 Teacher Package for this new level for English teachers to use. The website will be bigger, faster and easier to use. The staff at KGRE will grow with a new expatriate member of staff joining the team plus a new Indonesian assistant to help Ogi and Alwi. A big thank you to AusAID.

KGCC Membership Card

A slightly revised version of the KGCC membership card is now available for all members of KGRE Connection Clubs. Please write to us and request these new cards. Make sure you order the correct number for all your members.

PEN PALS on KGRE FORUM PAGE

Would you like an English-speaking penpal? Post a message on the KGRE FORUM Page and you may find one. Be very sure to include lots and lots of interesting information about yourself. People will be more likely to write to you if you sound interesting, if they know something about you AND if you answer their emails or letters quickly.
Here are 2 examples from the FORUM Page.

Hi! I’m Morgyn and I’m in Year 8 in Australia. I’d like an Indonesian-speaking friend so email me if you’re interested at morgyn.benstead@latis.net.au
I’m looking to improve my Indonesian so if the messages could be half in Indonesian and half in English, or all in Indonesian, that would be great!

Hi, I’m Shery from Bali, Indonesia and I’m looking to write to people from Australia. Hopefully we can make friends. I’m a 22 year old female. So if you are interested, please write to me. See ya ...
