ESC RRI Semarang
Semarang, Central Java
November 2004
The English Society Club RRI Semarang is an English Club
which is located at, and gets support from, RRI Semarang. The members
are also involved in RRI’s English Interactive Program which is
called ‘The Central Java At A Glance’.
ESC has around 175 members. They are senior high school
students, college students, workers and even housewives. But only about
50 people are active. This is because they live out of Semarang but they
always keep in touch with us by joining/calling the English interactive
program. Some ESC members are also involved in the program by being guest
announcers.
In September 2004 we had a special activity to celebrate
Radio Day by holding the ‘Jalan Santai’ competition. Thank
you to KGRE for the T-shirts too. That really helped us to show our identity
as the one and only English Club on RRI Semarang. And we were proud to
wear our KGRE T-shirts. ‘Jalan Santai’ was held on September
12, 2004. It started at 6am in front of the RRI building. There were many
participants and after the competition we promoted KGRE by spreading flyers
to participants and giving them some gifts such as stickers, posters and
balloons. We also asked them to join the ESC Sunday Fun meeting at 11am.
They were really interested and curious about our activity. Some of them
asked about KGRE and we were pleased to give them the informa-tion.

Makassar, South Sulawesi
December 2004
Comments from Club members:
“ECC say thanks for KGRE. The club meeting is more
active and enthusiastic with the support from KGRE. All the members have
fun because of our connection. Your magazine gives advantages and more
information. I say that KGRE is our spirit and motivation”. (Rifyal
Mukarram).
“I love KG.. I have more knowledge. I’m always
attracted by your tasks. I have more desire with KG. You improve my English.
KG is my friend”. (Eka Saputri)
Highlight activity - English Camp
On the 24 - 26 September 2004, eight members of ECC participated
in the English Camp which was held by BEMJ FBS - UNM. They were Echa,
Fitri, Oki, Mila, Fifin, Memet, Anto and Yayank. Our team was called ‘Terminator’.
The name is taken from a film title. We chose this name because terminator
means strong, power and determined. We also made a chant. The chant was
‘We are Terminator Team. We came here to terminate all teams’.
There were many games during the camp activity such as a dancing contest,
cooking contest, queen contest, mummy contest, speech activity, song contests,
etc. The event was held in Loka Camp Bantaeng. The place
is really beautiful and really cold. This English camp was one way to
improve our English. We hoped that confidence, ability and brotherhood
could be increased. With simple equipment such as a stove, tent, carpet,
flash light, plates and food that everybody realises that natural objects
is real life. And yes, Terminator was the First winner.
KGRE notes: Congratulations to all the members!!
