ALFA English club joined KGCC in April 2004. Since then
the club has developed well. Club Leader, Fadhil has become actively involved
with the English interactive programs at RRI Mataram. He has been helping
Jack and Nada on the ‘Talk To Me’ show every Friday at 7pm
since the program was created last December. Due to his enthusiasm, RRI
Mataram has even given him his own show - another English Interactive
program called ‘English Party Online’. The show is hosted
by Fadhil and Emma every Sunday at 7pm.

Al Ya’lu English Club is actually more like a formal institution
where the club members are kindergarten teachers. Being the most superior
school for children in East Java, it is often visited by kindergarten
teachers from all over Indonesia for comparative study, as well as by
guests from overseas. This has encouraged the staff members to form an
English club and join the Kang Guru Connection Club network. They’ve
proven to be an active club and invited KGRE to participate in their workshop
on teaching English to young learners in early February this year. KGRE
talked about ‘How To Make The Classrooms Interesting and Productive’.

Al Ya’lu Students’ Club Meeting
The students’ club meeting was held on Saturday,
April 23rd, 2005. Twelve children participated in the meeting. They were
guided by three AEC teachers - Any Fatati, Husna and Indah. Firstly, the
teachers asked the students to make a big circle. ‘In this session,
we sang two songs and the students enjoyed them. And then we had a ball
game. In this game, one of the teachers threw a ball to a student and
the student who received the ball had to say what colours they were wearing.
Next, we asked them to sit on the grass. The teachers, in turns, asked
some questions.
Whoever answered first got a score. Last, we divided them
for a mirror game. First, we divided them into pairs and they had to stand
face to face. One would act as if he or she was in front of a mirror making
his or her face up. The other one should be the mirror image. He or she
must follow the exact actions of his or her partner. The students enjoyed
the meeting and were very active. After all the activities were over,
Any Fatati closed the meeting’. |
