Having Jelly in English Club

jellyA: Wow! What a nice jelly!
I love it! May I have them all?

B: What a naughty girl you are! Can’t you stop thinking of your own belly! We all love to eat it.

A: Yeah ... I think I will leave you a little bit he he.

The English Club meets once a week, every Wednesday at 8pm. So having some jelly is a very good idea. We can relax, have fun and have something to eat.

KGRE Note: What a wonderful idea! By the way in America the word ‘jelly’ means selai but in Australia it’s a kind of pudding.

Australia English Club
Malang, East Java
June 2006

The club has three missions:

  • creating new atmosphere of learning English beyond classroom
  • learners centric not teachers centric and
  • edutainment (combining education and entertainment)

Under the leadership of Pak Witanto the Club is managed to carry out the mission through the club activities such as speaking activity, telling story, describing story, describing picture, mini drama, monopoly English game. Capt. KGRE, Mr Kevin Dalton, visited the Club on 18th February 2006. He saw how club members did their monopoly game. It was fantastic and they even made the board game out of selections of KGRE magazines.

Here is their report:

On February 18, 2006 exactly in ‘Public Library’ or Perpustakaan Umum Malang LPMBK English Club held meeting with Mr Kevin Dalton. It was started with the first game that was ‘Whispering Game’. Four winners of the game then given chance to play the next game which was ‘Monopoly Game’. Other participants joined in to give support. The monopoly games was about ‘describing pictures’ from colourful monopoly board. This game is very enjoyable and fun. Everyone could practice to speak English. This was our chance to speak to foreign people directly. All of us were very pleased. That was our first experience which was unforgettable. Thank you KGRE and also to Mr Dalton for visiting and all your prizes. We are waiting for your second visit.
