Club Pekanbaru - Riau
Garuda Conversation Club is one of the most active clubs in the KGCC
network. Kang Guru Radio English is particularly thankful for their tremendous
support in promoting KGRE programs in their province. They never fail
to send reports on their many interesting activities. Congratulations
Garuda Club.

"Dear Kang Guru. Thank you for sending us the Kang Guru package.
We do appreciate it. We do also hope during the next 12 months we'll be
able to develop solid links between all of the members clubs and with
KGRE itself.
In our application form you have read:
l that we
would be happy if you come and visit us and RRI Pekanbaru soon. There are
some special activities in Pekanbaru during 2002. One of them is Racing
Boat (Pacu Jalur).
l that we
have distributed Kang Guru Radio English magazines, posters and stickers
to everyone who is interested in it. We. d be happy if you send more.
The reason is we will put it in public place and send it to schools in
remote areas.
l of IAMA
(Ikatan Alumni MTs Al-Huda) This group is linked with GCC in dealing with
extra activities.
Our specific plans are:
l promoting
KGRE to all listeners in Riau province including remote area.
l students
and English teachers are the groups we think like to know more on KGRE.
Interesting Club Activities:
We've asked members to watch western films such 'Layar Emas' on
RCTI. To make the lesson more enjoyable, we listen to western songs. Learning
English by singing a song is great, isn't it?" |

Regular club meetings are usually held with the following activities:

Time which encourages members to speak up and share something.

l Evaluation
of the club program.
The Club is also happy with the POUCH bulletin because it helps
us with our activities. Another interesting piece of information was that
this active club had an internet learning activity as mentioned in a recent
email to KG.
"It seems we have good days here as the club is getting more active
and we have more members from the new English students here. Three weeks
ago our club had an Internet learning activity for all the members and
some of them tried to send you emails. Have you read them? I hope so!
Please reply to their emails because they are all looking forward to hearing
from you. Internet is something new for them".
