This is a good game for practicing word order in sentences
and/or reviewing a theme and can be adapted to many grammar points/themes.
-
Write a number of sentences on a particular theme
or grammar point. Then write each word from each sentence on a separate
piece of card. The members of the club could make these themselves
but they must be checked for accuracy.
(See sample sentences below: Theme - transport/ Grammar point - adverbs
of frequency)
-
Give each member in the club a word. The members must
mingle with other members checking words until a few people can make
a sentence with their individual words. When finished, hold up the
cards in the correct order.
Alternatively if you have access to a photocopier the sentences could
be written or typed, photocopied and cut up for groups of students
to make into sentences. If these were made on different coloured card
they would be easy to keep in separate sets and used again.
The cut up words could also be distributed around the
room, verbs on one table, adverbs on another, etc. and teams of students
race one by one to collect words to make a sentence. The first team to
make a correct sentence is the winner.
