ITB Conference in BandungKevin presented a paper at the Fourth National Conference in Bandung in March. He talked about the role played by English Language clubs in promoting English language learning. Of course the Clubs he talked about were Kang Guru Connection Clubs. The presentation was well received and many participants had questions about the KGCC network and about the activities of the KGCCs. Thanks very much to the clubs that helped with the special survey - your assistance is much appreciated.
Identity Card OrdersDon’t forget to order identity cards for your members as soon as possible. Just write to KG and tell us how many you need and we will send them to you. However we will not be sending cards to Clubs who have not sent in their regular reports on activities and meetings. As we said in the beginning, the KGCC network is an interactive setup and ALL clubs need to communicate regularly with KGRE. Unfortunately some Clubs have not even bothered to contact KGRE even once since receiving their welcome packages last year. Very disappointing as all applications received looked so positive. Nevertheless there are still many active and enthusiastic Clubs in this ever growing network.Oz-Indo Connections There
are so many activities going on between Australia and Indonesia that KG
is developing a new webpage to tell you about some of them. Check

Contact with Australian schoolsSome schools in Australia contacted KG during March. The students at those schools found KGRE on the Internet and wanted to make contact with Clubs in the KGCC network. KG sent them the postal addresses and e-mail addresses for many of the very active network clubs. It is very important that e-mail addresses of KGCCs are correct and if they change then you must tell KG immediately. If KG sends your contact details to schools and students groups in Australia then we must be sure that they are correct and up to date.If they are not then you may never hear from Aussies who are looking for you. That would be a shame, wouldn’t it?Kevin went to Makassar in early April to talk to Club representatives there about organising the Makassar Get Together for perhaps June or July, 2002. The idea is that all KGCCs in the area meet together for a BIG meeting - fun, games and lots of English too. It is essential that clubs be prepared to do a lot of the organising on the local level for KGRE. Get Togethers are also being proposed for Medan and Surabaya later in the year. More news on this exciting possibility in the next POUCH.
