Kang
Guru Lovers
Wajo - South Sulawesi
March 2003
On January 28th,2003, KGRE visited three small schools in Desa Salobulo,
Kec. Sajoanging, South Sulawesi. Pak Muksim, leader of theKG Connection
Club in Wajo, English Lover’s Club, invited Captain KGRE to meet
his students and to take part in some of their English language activities.
Under the instruction of Pak Muksim, the students in his 4 schools are
learning English in very innovative and interesting ways. He uses KGRE
regularly and KGRE is happy to support him in whichever ways it can. Even
though KGRE is primarily written for Pre-Intermediate to Intermediate
English language learners, Pak Muksim manages to adapt KGRE magazines
and POUCH bulletins for use with his young students. Parents of the students
and the community in general fully support Pak Muksim’s enthusiasm
and hard work.
The following are some of their activities as written in theirClub Activity
Reports.

-
‘Kang Guru In the Classroom’
I use the ‘Kang Guru in the Classroom’ once
a week in SD Negeri 366 Salobulo. Listening to the native speakers
and Australia music are very useful for them. That motivates them
to study English. My students even try to imitate the voice of singer.
Even though my students are Elementary School children they are very
clever and smart.
-
Picture Guess Quiz
For elementary school children, I use pictures of animals
and fruits so that my students can guess the pictures (the name of
the animals and fruits). I think this way is very good for them. I
can see the success of my English teaching system for my students.

English Activities
Kediri - East Java
April 2003
Dear KGCC,
In this Club Activities Report (CAR) we have information about some
special activities during September 2002 - February 2003. They are:
- Touring in English
All the club members went to Ubalan, a water source like a lake,
in Kalasan. We inaugurated 3 of our new members there. One of them
is Eva who is the 2nd winner of Speech Contest on IKIP PGRI Kediri.
- Drawing of a Story
During the semester holidays we had an activity called ‘drawing
of story (cerita bergambar)’. This task was for all members.
They must drawing a picture or write a story about their holiday.
Then they have to speak in front of the other members. And we had
one winner. It is a drawing called ‘My Holiday Train’
by Lutfi. It’s a funny drawing for a high school student.

Do you know, the Reading Class Set and the Pouch is very popular with
our club members. They must queue up if they want to borrow it or
they can copy it. Can you permit it?
PS: This report writing was done by Eva, the winner of ‘Can
You Write Reports for our Club?’ This is a new activity in our
club in every four months.
KGRE note: This is an excellent way to delegate report writing among
club members).
