Language Activity for November-December

Read the report of driving in Australia by Frans. Discuss the article together and write down 6 major differences between driving in Australia and driving here in Indonesia. Then look at the differences one by one and consider which ‘way’ is the best for you or for your area. Send them to KGRE before the last day of 2001. Your own local driving ‘customs’ could be interesting too so put them down in your response to KGRE.

Winner of Sept/Oct Bulletin Language Activity

The winning Club is ‘The Excellent Club’ from Jombang. They sent a fantastic entry and have won an Echols and Shadilly English Indonesian Dictionary for their Club. I am sure they can put that to great use. And by the way, they also sent a fantastic Club activities Report as well - really wonderful. They even sent a cassette of one of their English Presentation Activities talking about LOVE. Fantastic! It will be used in KGRE program 3307 during 2002. And you can read about their Camp Activity on the KG website Connection Club page in December. Thanks to all the members of that very active Club. Once again, if you want to contact this Club for more information about their range of activities - then do it now!

Radio Highlights

32.10 BARDOT with music from Oz.
Bun and Dian talk about working in Australian Schools.
32.11  Idioms Inggris, an Aussie naval vessel visits Indonesia and last, trading between Makassar people and Australian Aboriginals 400 years ago.
32.12  COREMAP and Aussie accents - a good one for your listening.
Idul Fitri and Christmas Specials in December.

Keeping up the Contact

It is important that KG Connection Clubs keep in touch with KGRE by submitting regular reports of their Club Activities, including Club meetings. Clubs should ensure that they meet on a regular basis and that reports of those meetings and any other activities be sent to KGRE.

Saturday Meetings at “English Lovers Club”

In our Saturday meetings we present grammar tuition because we realize to make a good composition needs good grammar. Things that have been done through these meetings are: to teach the members on how to express the passive voice in the simple present tense (Sat. 4 August), in the present continuous tense (Sat. 11 August), in the present perfect tense (Sat. 18 August) and in the simple past tense (Sat. 25 August).
A note from Kevin: English Lovers Club, I do not agree with this final comment (see below) in your last report”.

English Lovers comment: “We are absolutely sorry to tell you that our club could not share yet any information that we feel will benefit other clubs in the network but God willing we would try to do so someday”.
Kevin: “I think that this is interesting and other Clubs might think so as well. You are obviously a very active and highly motivated Club - great to hear about all these types of things”.
