KGRE Travel Report

Kevin visited RRI and IALF in Surabaya in late October. KGRE is planning  a KGCC Get Together in Surabaya early in 2002 for all Clubs in East Java to attend. We are still working out the details but it looks promising indeed. Obviously Kevin cannot visit every Club in the network so these proposed KGCC Get Togethers could be just what the doctor ordered. More later!

Kevin accompanied Solehudin, the winner of the KG Yang Baru radio competition to Jakarta in early November. The weekend was a part of the prize that Solehudin won. More details in the April 2002 magazine.

Solehudin and H.E.Richard Smith, the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia (far right) having a chat.

Kevin visited Solehudin’s school (middle) in Cicalengka near Bandung. Great fun was had by all.

He also visited listeners in Banyuwangi, East Java (left) and Negara, Bali in October.

Membership Cards

The ‘Space Club’ in Bandung and ‘Young Jepara English Club’ are the only Clubs that have responded to our call for designs of a new Membership Card for KGCC members. Thanks to Candra and Mizan together with their active group in Bandung and Jepara. Other Clubs are asked to consider this ‘project’ and send their entries to KGRE by December 15th. The discussion necessary to create an interesting and attractive identity card could provide your Club with a great Club activity - drawing, designing and discussing - IN ENGLISH of course.
Several Clubs have suggested that we put club members’ photographs on each card - good idea! However what we plan to do is to have the cards printed  in Bali and then copies for each member of each Club will be sent to each Club. The Club will then be responsible for attaching individual photographs, entering the name of the Club and the name of the member onto the card and possibly laminating the card to protect it Some guidelines for the card to consider:
  • KG Connection Logo and AusAID logo
  • Space for individual Club names
  • Member number e.g. 023 - 56 (Club 23 and member no. 56 of that particular club)
  • Date of joining KGCC.
  • KGRE colors only.
  • Single sided or double sided?

New Clubs

There are now 60 Connection Clubs in this network with the addition of 30 new clubs being announced in the December KGRE magazine. Some of those new Clubs maybe in your area so consider making contact with all of them OR at least one of them before the year is over. Some Clubs have already written to KGRE saying that they have made contact with other Clubs and some have even met up and had joint activities.

New Bulletin Name

We have already received several suggestions for the title of this Club Bulletin. We need more though so please discuss this matter at your next meeting and send your suggestion to KGRE by December 15th, 2001. If you cannot think of a name then make a note of that in your next piece of correspondence to us possibly your October or November Club Report to KGRE. We want to know that you have at least thought about it, okay?
