Kang Guru Get Together in Makassar, 21 August 2005

The Makassar Clubs Get Together was a raging success. Not only were Ogi, Rachel and Kevin there from KGRE but Geoff Crewes made a special appearance. Geoff is the CEO of the Indonesia Australia Language Foundation. Geoff was keen to be involved in the activities and he certainly was with Rachel’s Question and Run activity. Geoff had a great day. There were of course other highlights during the day. One of them was the performance by the Benteng Panynyua English Club. The performance showed a language club learning about KGRE. It was written by the club members and was all in English. Then again there was the sparkling performance by club leader, Ilky Hidayat, in the role of a beautiful young lady. The play gave everyone lots of laughs. Another highlight were the photographic displays which illustrated the basic theme for the day - What Has KGRE Done for our Club? Well done KGCC’s of South Sulawesi. It was terrific to see member of the new Excellent English Conversation Club in Mamuju. Those members travelled over 12 hours by bus to get to the event. KGRE was happy to help them with transportation and accommodation costs.

Comments about CGT from club members:

Kahar from EECC Mamuju, “EECC Mamuju got unforgettable experiences coz it’s the first time can meet Kevin, Rachel, Geoff, Ogi and all members. We got tired to go there but lost when I meet them. So by joining this program we have many advantages and I wish them to visit Mamuju as a new program.”

Dewangga from Best Forum, “After I joined this CGT event, I gain a lot of benefits, especially I like the format and the contents of the CGT program. They really help me improve my English. I was really impressed with the way it was organised. It was the first time I joined such get together activity, and I love it. I wish the next CGT will be again held in Makassar and I promise to join it. But what about inviting Australian artist to make the event more attractive. Thank you.”

Santi from Best Forum, “Attending CGT helped me increase my self confidence. I never joined it before. I really really loved it because I could make friends from different style and ages. Actually, I liked to see my friends winning great prizes though I just got a welcome package and that’s it. What I really like was the music quiz from Pak Kevin. It was so funny that presented Dangdut song. If he did Goyang Inul, that would be a lot funnier, agree ...? My suggestions:

  1. How about making the CGT event a lot longer coz from 8am to 2pm was so short. I want it the whole day, maybe an English camp.
  2. Give more entertainment and prices. This one is better.
  3. There was a little info on scholarship, give more time as well. Thank you.”

Selvi from PEMCC, “The benefits from attending the CGT: We get many KGRE promo items. We meet and can make friends with other clubs. We get a recreational value as we laugh, happy together in participating on singing a song or games activity”

Muksim from KG Lovers - Wajo, “In my opinion, CGT is very good in building good connection among the club members and to increase our knowledge about the simple and the easy way to study and to understand English well. Thank you.”

Ardaniah from Best Forum, “Hi, I’m Ardaniah, I think it is very entertaining event. Many things that made us fun, especially the programs such as KGRE and its partnership gave us a lot info and door prizes. I got 2 different prizes. From AEC - Kangaroo puppet because I could make a box correctly, and others for my team at BF Club. To me, CGT was quite good in management and in time arrangement. All of the committee were working hard especially from BF as also helped the team work at the CGT office. The time used in the big day was quite effective and very on time. Thank you KGRE for your great contribution in Makassar. To Pak Kevin and Ogi and KGRE team - great thanks to all of you.”

Masni (the event MC from BPEC), “I was totally happy to see people were so excited and had a wonderful time. Syahrir, you are the great organiser. Anyway, I learn much from you then. Best of all. Thanks for CGT and to KGRE.”
