A Short History of the Club
Posisani English club was established for a
numbers of reasons. Firstly, English is not seen as very interesting by
young people in Palu. Secondly, some people decided to establish a club
and they called it ‘POSISANI’ which means ‘togetherness’
in the local Palu language.
Club Activities:
February 20th, 2005 - ‘Visiting A Site’.
We already arranged an appointment with an NGO organisation in the environmental
sector. The meeting was held from 4pm until 6pm in their secretariat in
Lombok Street. We discussed about the Vision and the Mission of the organisation
and about the experiences of the members in the organisation. This meeting
was attended by 25 people from both the clubs and the organisation.
April 3rd, 2005 - another ‘Visiting A Site’ program.
We arranged an appointment with Pro 2 FM (RRI Palu). The meeting was
also held from 4 - 6 pm at the radio station. We discussed about the English
program on RRI Palu. Some of our members became the special guests on
that radio program with Jojo while the other members were interviewed
by the other broadcasters
April 17th, 2005 - ‘Dikjar (Dinas Pendidikan dan Pengajaran)’
park.
This place is in the Setia Budi Street. This time we discussed about
‘scariest story’ that ever happened to us in our life. Everyone
talked about their story and for some of us, we can’t forget those
stories as long as we live.

KIP Conversation Club or ICC joined the KGRE Connection Club network
in 2002. They have gone through some changes in the organisational structure
of the club but they are still an active club. Their activities during
club meetings mostly focus on improving English.
Activities:
English activities using KGRE magazine.
We read the pages of KGRE magazine carefully and tried to remember
as good as possible the content and each word in the text. Afterwards
we closed our magazine and did listening series from the KGRE Reading
Class Set (filling the blank by listening to the cassette). Then we
wrote the answers on the white board and other members corrected them.
When we have difficulties we play the cassette again to be sure of the
correct answers. After finishing the activity we realised that our listening
skills were quite poor especially when we listened to native speakers.
So listening to KGRE cassette has become one of our regular club activities.
We also use different language activities from the POUCH, for example,
grammar and pronunciation. We took the material from the Pronoun Quiz
in the POUCH March-April edition. By doing this we could test our grammar
skills especially parts of speech, tenses and the proper usage of pronouns.
