A Fun Day in Madura

This is great! Read about this club activity day held on October 8th with the Al-Ghazali English Club (KGCC#056) on 8 October. ‘There were approximately 50 club participants, with the youngest, Jay, only 4 years old, who presented a poem in English language. Just goes to show, you are never too young or too old to start learning English’.

Presentations were delivered by Amien (Pioneer English Club KGCC#019), and Bambang and As’Adi (PP An-Nuqayah). They included activities such as a comprehension exercise, quizzes, miming activity, running dictation, guess the picture and a sequencing exercise. In between these activities there were a performance of the club’s Yel-Yel “Don’t be Shy…”, a very interesting and informative presentation about how to subscribe to KGRE magazine by one of the members, a drama starring a student playing the part of Margaret from Australia, a song from Madura and of course the day would not have been complete without a performance of the famous Aussie song, ‘G’Day, G’Day!’. Special thanks to Margaret Rollings, ISELP teacher trainer in Madura, for her assistance and enthusiasm with this activity.

Club Website

Student English Activity (SEA UMY) (KGCC #032) now has a website with information about the committee, members and activities. The photos are great and some of the writing is very humorous. It’s great to see young Indonesian people using English to express their own personalities. This club is based in Jogja and has been active in helping people affected by the earthquake. Good News from Lombok

The Sasak English Club in Praya, # 023, Central Lombok, is very active. Not only do they have a program which helps members improve their English language skills, they also invite native speakers to their meetings. In addition, they have a plan to take English to the villages in their area. Their program includes telling young people of the dangers of drug use through club activities.
That’s a great idea!

KGCC Membership Review

At the moment we’re reviewing KGCC membership and writing letters to clubs that haven’t been in contact with us recently. Being a member of the KGCC means regular contact with KGRE, okay?

Did your club return the KGCC Update Survey Form sent to you in July?

If not, please send it back now so that we can update your details. (It’s on blue paper so should be easy to find.)

Does your club send regular Club Activity Reports (CARs)?

If you haven’t sent one in the last six to eight weeks it’s time to send one again. If your club hasn’t sent one recently but wishes to remain in the KGCC network you must do that now. If you don’t have any CAR paper, it’s okay to use plain paper with ‘Club Activity Report’ written on the top, your club name and number and the period covered by your report. Here’s an example.
