September 2007 - Sta’r English Club (KGCC #092) from Desa Arui Das, Southwest Maluku

Congratulations! Sta’r English Club became a member of KGCC in April 2007 and although small, they have proved to be an extremely, enthusiastic club.

What really impressed us here at KGRE is the fact that although they have limited internet access (the local Internet café closed down), no electricity sometimes in the wet season and a satellite phone that doesn’t work regularly, they still manage to send a regular, detailed CAR. Their last CAR was accompanied by a series of photos with detailed captions attached.

Congratulations Sta’r English Club!
* Sta’r EC runs a weekly reading campaign and invites all of the participants to visit our resource centre every morning and afternoon. We prepared some reference books ,books, novels, magazines including KGRE, brochures, pamphlets and maps.
* We invited a government staff from Dinas Kehutanan and also our Muatan local teacher in SMP Negeri 2, Wer Tamrian, to explain and teach us about clean environment and conservation.

October 2007 - Fragrant Water English Club (KGCC #094), Banyuwangi, East Java

Fragrant Water English Club (KGCC#094) in Sempu, Banyuwangi, East Java became a member of KGCC network in May 2007. Although it is a fairly new club, it is an extremely active club with 132 active members, most of whom are SMK students. That is a really big club! They always enter KGCC competitions, send very detailed, interesting CARS and at their meetings they do a wide variety of challenging activities and play great games where their members certainly have fun while learning English. Sometimes they get together for meetings and fun activities with other clubs in theirarea. They are planning to invite 3 other local KGCCs to an English Camp early in 2008. Congratulations Fragrant Water English Club!

Here are some excerpts about some of their games and activities.

The first activity was ‘Identify the Expression’.We were given a picture of footballer’s expression and had to guess how he/they felt at that time .It was so easy for us as in none of them a player had just scored a goal!
In the second activity there were 2 kinds of cartoons without text. We had to write a script for each cartoon so anyone who saw the cartoon would understand what was meant. It was so funny to see the pictures and also to read our script .It made us smile and laugh.

Fragrant Water English Club was chosen as KGCC Club of the Month, October because they always seem so enthusiastic, enter all KGRE competitions, are always trying new games and activities and because they send KGCC such detailed CARs. Well done, Fragrant Water English Club!
Several members of this club will be attending the 10th Anniversary BBQ on Oct. 27th. They entered a recent KGRE SMS Competition on the radio program. Congratulations.
