VOCABULARY

Gerak jalan / marching

In preparation for Independence Day celebrations, all over the country Indonesian students were seen marching along the sides of the roads, practicing for the marching competitions. They are indeed skilled at marching in formation.

We have had many requests for a list of marching vocabulary, so here it is!
 
siap gerak stand at attention!
hadap kanan gerak right turn
hadap kiri gerak left turn
putar about turn
istirahat ditempat gerak
at ease
maju jalan quick march
(this means to march at a standard pace, always starting with left foot)
berhenti gerak stop marching
hormat gerak salute
tegak gerak attention
jalan di tempat mark time
berkumpul fall in
bubar jalan fall out / dismiss
