Suggestions from Clubs

‘Window of the World’ Club (029) from Salatiga sometimes invites students from their local International School to visit their club to talk about culture and life in their country. What a great idea! Think about the area that you live in. Are there any organisations, associations or groups of native speakers with whom you could begin developing a sort of relationship with?

You know, even in the more remote areas there may just be an untapped source of language that you have not thought of before. Perhaps Kang Guru can even assist you to make the initial contact with these groups or people BUT you have to investigate the possibilities first and then let KGRE know. There is always the chance that your club could become connected to another organisation. Wouldn’t that be great?>

Membership Cards

Several clubs have their own membership cards. They are a great idea  as they give club members a certain sense of belonging and the cards are something to be proud of. Here at KGRE we are considering the possibility of having Connection Club membership cards for every person from every KG Connection Club. It was suggested in a few of your Application Forms and we think it could be an excellent idea.
Now we cannot make promises BUT if any of you would like to design such a card and send it to KG, we will consider the idea even further. Some guidelines for the card to consider :
  • KG Connection Logo and AusAID logo
  • Space for individual Club names
  • Member number e.g. 023 - 56 (Club 23 and   member no.56 of that particular club)
  • Date of joining KGCC.
  • KGRE colors only.
  • Single sided or double sided?

Suggestions for Club Activities

  1. Find a ‘sister club’ - a club that you can be a partner with. Perhaps you have similar interests and backgrounds, or, maybe you are in the same province. So start contacting and find your partner club in this KGCC network.
  2. Write to clubs which are closest to you and investigate the possibility of visiting each other.
  3. Send other clubs facts and information about your club - what is it about your club that others might like to know?
  4. If you have email contact, send a quick email to the other clubs congratulating them on being one of the first thirty clubs in this network.
  5. Start designing the new KGCC Membership Card (details in this bulletin)
  6. Discuss ways to promote KGRE in your area
  7. Compete this months KGRE CC English Language Activity
  8. If KGRE sent you free copies of Series 31, what would you do with them? Remember that tapescripts are included.
  9. Leave a message on the KGRE FORUM Page of the KG website. You never know, you could start up a very beneficial and enjoyable contact with someone here in Indonesia OR even overseas.

Clubs have suggested time and time again that they be ambassadors for KGRE in their area. Great idea guys! Now, how can you help KGRE to become even more well known?

Ideas welcome but here are a few suggestions received from clubs already:>

Promotion of Kang Guru
  • Posters in all WARNET and Internet Cafes in your town.
  • Distribution of KGRE radio broadcast flyers to schools in your town. Just let us know how many you need and we will happily send them to you.
  • Write about joining the Kang Guru Connection in your school magazine or put an announcement on your school notice board or in your school’s language lab (if you have one of course!).
  • Make sure that your new ‘I Love the Kang Guru Connection’ stickers are put in a place where lots of people can see them.
  • Do ALL members of the club receive their own personal copy of the KGRE magazine? THEY SHOULD!
