KangGURU Travels to Lombok and Jakarta, December 2005

In mid December Kevin visited Jakarta and Lombok as the final trips for KGRE for 2005. Activities included visiting RRI Lombok and meeting with AusAID and AIPRD officials in Jakarta.

On December 12 Kevin flew to Jakarta for meetings with AusAID and AIPRD, Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Reconstruction and Development. The meetings basically reviewed what the Indonesian and Australian Governments are doing, through mutual cooperation, in Aceh and other parts of Indonesia. Plans for 2006 are exciting too and KGRE will keep you informed about them as the year goes on. Education was a high priority at the meetings and that of course is where KGRE comes in. Kevin returned to Denpasar on December 14th.

On December 15th Kevin flew to Lombok for basically private business. While he was there he visited RRI Mataram. Activities at the radio station included a Listener Meeting on Friday afternoon, December 16th and a follow-up appearance on the ‘Talk To Me’ interactive English radio program later that day. Pak Fadhil from KGRE’s ALFA English Club was in charge of the program as Jack and Nada were still away. It was a great day and KGRE would like to thank RRI Mataram for their continuing interest in English language radio in the Mataram area.
