KangGURU Travels to Surabaya May 3- 4th Kevin went on this trip to Suarabaya at rather short notice. One reason was to chat and work together with Andi on final touches on the design of the June magazine cover. Andi is a graphic arts student in Surabaya and also works at Tunas Hijau. It looks terrific and KGRE is very happy with Andi’s work. We hope you like it too – just wait and see! The main reason however was to interview two candidates for the position of ELT and Training Specialist at KGRE. Many excellent applications have been received and KGRE is confident that by June 2006 there will a hard-working and competent person at the helm of teacher training/workshops and KGCC activities. Of course the successful candidate will also help with the KGRE magazine and radio program too. KGRE has big plans for 2006 – 2007 so everyone in the office is very excited. KGRE is looking for a very special person. Mnay people are interested in working for KGRE but it takes a special type of person to be aprt of KGRE. What type of person is KGRE looking for? Okay, the person for this position needs to have a basic working knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia, even though much of the work, especially when traveling, is done in English. KGRE also needs someone who is keen, and in fact quite eager, to travel around Indonesia especailly to visit KGRE Connection Clubs and for Teacher Workshops. For one thing, KGRE Connection Clubs will be a major focus for KGRE in the next 18 months. During 2006, for example, KGRE will present 5 Follow-Up Teacher Workshops in addition to the usual workshops which are so popular with teachers. KGRE has done around 12 of those general already this year. KGRE has had help from IALF staff to do a lot of this traveling so far this year including Krista and Josie together with KGRE staff Kevin, Ogi, Alwi and Sue. Lots of work to be done there. The new staff member will take full charge of the newly revised ‘Listening and Reading Class Sets’ plus work hard on making the Whiz concept really work and become effective for SMP level students. KGRE really needs a person who can work as an effective part of the enthusiastic KGRE team. It takes a lot of cooperation and hard work to make things happen effectively and efficiently. Did you know there are 9 staff at KGRE now PLUS a newly re-furbished office as of May 1st, pictures to be posted soon on this site. KGRE just continues to grow and thanks for your support too. |
